10th Annual 2006

Thanks to the generosity of the Bartram family and thousands of Indiana residents, over 500 Indiana children became the owners of new clothing of their choice, as well as new games, DVD’s, toys, and other new gifts. The 2006 “Christmas for Kids” Program – our version of Shop With A Cop – assisted over 100 families across the state during the holidays. Family names were submitted by Indiana State Police Commanders, Public Information Officers, and Chaplains from all over the state. ITA board members and staff were also instrumental in gathering names of families who were in need of some type of assistance this year. Schools that participated in the 2006 David Deuter Memorial “Good Citizenship” Essay Contest were also invited to submit names for consideration. Families were provided with Wal-Mart Gift Cards and were chaperoned on their shopping ventures by Indiana State Police officers from their area. Families were given $100 gift cards for each child in their family, with a $400 family limit. The estimated cost of the entire program for 2006 was $30,000. While the ITA required that at least one-half of the gift card be spent on items of clothing, officers who shopped with the families in the program reported that most of the families chose to spend more on clothing, coats, shoes, boots, hats and gloves, that on entertainment items. We thank each of the officers who took time from their ISP duties to shop with these deserving families – and we thank each of you who made a donation to our program. Together – we continue to lend a helping hand to those in need. 2005 Christmas For Kids |
