After his retirement from the ISP in 2006, Davies felt strongly that the leader of the ITA should be a uniformed officer who was active in the day to day activities of the ISP, as well as the ITA.  Therefore, he chose not to seek reelection when his term ended in 2006. Davies did agree to continue to serve on the board representing Retirees.

A longtime ITA member, Retired Sgt. Davies was a member of the 38th ISP Recruit School and was appointed on December 14, 1979.  He was assigned to the Ft. Wayne Post, where he was a member of the Emergency Response Team, a Team Leader, District Firearms Instructor, a member of the High Performance Vehicle Program, and worked with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.  In 1999, he was promoted to Squad Sergeant where he served until his retirement in 2006.

Davies served on the ITA Board of Directors for many years and held the position of Vice President until 2002, when he was unanimously elected to the Presidents position.  He led the association through their toughest years as they persevered in promoting and maintaining the positive image of the ITA and the ISP.

Since his retirement from the Indiana State Police, he has worked as a Security Officer at the Fort Wayne Federal Building.

He and his wife, Kathy, who is Head Dispatcher at the Ft. Wayne ISP Post, reside in Churubusco, where they enjoy spending time with children and grandchildren.
