Tim Buffum started with the Indiana State Police on October 8, 1979 working the permanent scales at District 22-Ft. Wayne. In 1980, he transferred to his home area, District 16-Peru and was assigned to work "portables." In 1997, he was promoted to District Coordinator, supervising Districts 11, 16, and 24, as well as 24 Motor Carrier Inspectors.
In October 1983, Tim became a member of the Indiana Troopers Association mainly because none of the other ISP support organizations included Motor Carrier Inspectors. Tim has been the ITA board representative for the MCI department for many years.
On a personal note, Tim has been a member of the US Air Force Reserves, participated in the Iraqi Freedom detail, and serves as an instructor both in the USA and abroad. He also serves as President of the Miami County Volunteer Fire Department.
He and his wife, Karen, reside in Logansport and are the parents of two teenage boys.
